Ive been trying to use the pull to a charr goes 'idle' method in the northlands but they always seem to follow in one group then all retreat together. is there a specific way i should be doing it, or has the AI been changed since the post.
I'm lvl 10 necro, and i got pwned if i try and fight the group
any help is appreciated

Lvl 10 is a little early to be attempting a death levelling session. When you are that low a level, your best tools are Ben Wolfson, from the Across The Wall quest, this added to the Fire Imp, and a pet will make your surviveability more likely. Added to which, you should be able to kill the Oakhearts with ease, whom you will still get XP from.
When you enter the Northlands, follow the quest pointer for Across the Wall. And you will come accross Ben, he will follow you around until you take him back to the shrine. DON'T take him there, when you are level 10, he's is MUCH more helpful following you around instead.
Once you have joined up with Ben, there will be a group of 4 charr, nearby. You + Ben + Fire Imp, should make short(ish) work of this group. Try to kill the Hunter first, they usually are the one putting out the most damage.
As a Necro, you have access to the Vamp skills.. Put as many points as you can into Blood, so your vamp skills will serve you better, especially Vampiric Gaze. Before you engage a group of charr, cast Blood Renewal on yourself, then Life Siphon on your victim (the Hunter if there is one, otherwise the Shaman), This will give you +6 health regen for a short while, follow up with Vamiric Gaze, then Vampiric Touch, your target should be near enough dead. As soon as your target is dead switch to the next one and repeat. Once you have killed the 4 charr, make your way towards the shrine. When you get to the ruined house, wait for the patrol to run away before attacking the stationary group outside. Once the stationary group is gone, regen and wait for the patrol.
Go east. Observe the routes of the patrols. Your next target is going to be the group of 3 charr that comes from the shrine towards you. When they stop, powerup and hit them. Then it's a matter of working on the other patrols around the shrine.
If you still find it hard, I would suggest asking for a similar leveled partner to help you gain a couple more levels. I'm currently working on a lvl 13 Warrior myself, so I may be able to help ingame.

yes there is, but i belive that it is very much more long winded, and not really worth trying to do. everytime u kill something, even though it says you get 0xp, but every 100 u kill u will recieve 1%xp, so it can be done, but y oh y would u do that

Trust me on this, every time you kill something if it says you get 0XP, that's *EXACTLY* what you get.. *0XP*.
There isn't some hidden XP pool that the game stores all those 0's into, to pass onto you if you kill some mystical figure of 0XP creeps.

Well if this thread is still open...
I am currently lvl 18 and 21% to the next lvl. I have been DLing for a while but I did all of the quests. So rather than delete my almost 2 year old toon I decided to DL it any way. I am currently working on getting a second account toon to lvl 16 so that dling can go much faster. 70% sees like the right amount though cause it is not twice as fast.
The good thing is that I can get them to lvl 19 in around 4 hours with both toons there and that sure beats the 10 hours without it.

Hi.
This thread has 50 pages, so i cant read it all.
I have 1 simple question.
My guild mates says that it is no longer possible to get Survivor and LDoA.
Is that true?
Isnt it possible to lvlup monsters by letting them kill my pet or friend that is in party with me?
If it is possible, ill make my mesmer LDoA survivor no matter how long it takes ;]
Also is there any new info about GW2 release? I dont want to spend 3 months making LDoA survivor if i will have to abandon it a few month later ;/

Friend can only be killed twice, for lack of rez. Pet doesn't give EXP for kills after the first anymore. So no.

But there are monk skills that can be used multiple times.
I just have to buy monk tome, obtain that skill and rez my friend over and over again? Can i do that?

You can't get tomes in Pre-Searing legitimately, otherwise yes.

I have heard that if you are in pre searing with an item that does not belong there, you will be "asked" to move into post searing.

That was a while ago, Gaile Grey said any account with "exotic" (items you can't get in pre) had to remove them from pre your that character would be deleted.

Just a quick summation for the late comer's to this thread.
1), it is NOT POSSIBLE to use a) a friend, b) your pet, or c) your fire imp to level charr
2). it is NOT POSSIBLE to gain both Survivor and LDoA on the same character via any legitmate in-game method.

Yes it also applies to skills... although she's made exceptions before.
e.g. Savannah Heat.
Although it was fairly fun and quick runs with him :P

u cannot get survivor and ldoa. But if u had to choose between the both u would go for ldoa. I am going to make a monk for pre sering and if anyone is interested in joining with me whisper me online. I reckon we can get it with 1 day of farmin exp.

Took me about 3 1/2 months from start to finish.. doing a DL setup each night from about lvl 14 onwards. I did have about 3 or 4 disconnections during those setups. But yes it's NOT something that you can get in a day (unlike Survivor).

Yes you can do it quicker than I did. Although that usually requires to be monitoring your DL session and to harvest the charr at your level -1 for speed. For those without the time to devote, it will take longer.
